The 105th winner of the St Leger, held on Wednesday 15th September 1880 over the 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards of Town Moor, was Robert The Devil, a bay colt by Bertram out of Cast Off, owned by Mr C Brewer. The winner won by an easy 3 lengths in 3 minutes 32 seconds. A field of 12 runners contested the race, although there were 255 subscriptions of 25 Sovereigns each, which was worth £6050.
